What I would REALLY like is an option to go to the next message (older) after archiving a message. I like to read, then archive, then repeat. It is frustrating to go back to the inbox after every archive event.

If anyone knows how to do this, please post.

But then again, if you are using Mozilla Firefox as your web browser (and you should be), you can install the Gmail DELETE button extension, which will move your message to the Trash Can, which is emptied every 30 days. Archive vs Trash: now that's something to talk about. But would much rather have them disappear than hang around without me knowing it.

It keeps your messages around, does not delete them. Forever is a long time though... :) But it is not like the Spam folder where they are deleted after a certain period of time.

Hi,
I simply love the archive feature of Gmail.
But sometimes I become worried... I just have a doubt and it would be very nice if you could answer that... Does the archived mails stay with me forever or does it get deleted after some days like spam ???

Thanks,
Neo
