Logged in as . Logout - WordPress Support forum saves the day.

So… I was having a brutal bug with WordPress seeming to think that I was logged in when I wasn’t. I tried everything I could think of, turning off all plugins, trying different themes, looking at various database settings. Then, of course, I finally had to just Google what I was looking for. And lo and behold, the exact answer to the problem:

Logged in as . Logout — WordPress Support

Logged in as . Logout

try checking your user list to see if you have a blank user added somehow?

That was the answer. I had a blank user in the Users list somehow. I gave the user a user name, then demoted to level 0 so that I could delete.

And now, you can actually comment, sign in and also use the live search functionality on Ajax Blog now! :) :) :)

Wordpress comment spam solutions

So, figured it was time to kill the comment spam. So I installed these two packages and so far, no spam has gotten through. Yay! :)

Both installed super easy, and already after 1 minute Spam Karma 2 caught 2 spam comments. I’ve got almost 12,000 spam comments in my database. Dang.

Neato - Ultimate Tag Warrior: Start Here

Neato - Ultimate Tag Warrior: Start Here

Ultimate Tag Warrior (UTW) is a tagging plugin for wordpress. It allows storing a set of keywords (or as current slang dictates, tags) against posts that behave like categories - the tags can be displayed on a post, you can go to the archive page for a tag, and there are RSS/atom feeds available. Unlike categories, you can also view archive pages and feeds for sets of tags such as the posts which are tagged with both “photograph” and “food”, for example.

Tagalag - Tag email addressess

This is so similar to kind of what we were wanting to do with Repuserve it’s not funny. Well, it is funny. Actually, I’d have to say, major props to the Tagalag crew for coding this up. Really really nice.

Tagalag

Tagalag lets you tag email addresses. You can see what others have tagged you as and remove tags if they are inappropriate.

So, now you can tag me (in the sidebar). Pretty cool.

TipMonkies - Web-based IM client roundup

Nice round-up of web-based IM clients.

TipMonkies - Blog Archive - Web-based IM client roundup

A few days ago I wrote about Meebo and people took an interest to the web-based IM client, so I decided to do a quick roundup of the available clients. You should have a somewhat modern browser for these to work (IE 5.5, Netscape 7.1, Mozilla 1.0 or higher) but that shouldn’t be a hurdle for anyone. If you can’t install an IM application at work or school, then these web-based solutions should get you your IM fix. This list is by no means definitive, particularly when it comes to Jabber clients, of which there are many, but covers some of the more popular solutions. I’ve decided to exclude any commercial (read: not free) solutions, or those that require you to run them on your own server. Read on for more information!
