We were happy to have the Wee Trio come give a concert on April 22, 2008. It was a great success!
They performed to a packed house (standing room only) and did a great job. Their polished sound including drums, vibraphone and bass impressed everyone present.
James Westfall - Vibes
Dan Loomis - Bass
Jared Schonig - Drums

YouTube - Fire in the Patio Fireplace at Mad Art Gallery in St. Louis
We went to the Mad Art exhibition opening tonight. This video is was taken using my Treo 700p and was of the fire in their outdoor patio fireplace. It was quite cozy and nice.

Barack Obama is the most intelligent, reasoned politician I have ever heard. This video is remarkable. In it, he shares his views on religion and its role in a pluralistic, progressive society.
My favorite passage of the speech (emphahsis added):
And even if we did have only Christians in our midst, if we expelled every non-Christian from the United States of America, whose Christianity would we teach in the schools? Would we go with James Dobson’s, or Al Sharpton’s? Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is ok and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount - a passage that is so radical that it’s doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application? So before we get carried away, let’s read our bibles. Folks haven’t been reading their bibles.
You can read the full transcript of his speech here.

One of the smartest people around, noted Stanford law professor Lawrence Lessig, has put together an outstanding video sharing his reasons for voting for Obama. I highly recommend watching it and thinking about the issues he raises. If you disagree, why?
Watch or download the high-quality video here (torrent).
Lots of excellent thoughts and comments on his post too (scroll down).

Last Sunday as I was driving around doing some errands I was listening to A Prairie Home Companion on the local NPR station. Garrison Keillor introduced a singer, Nellie McKay, who sang a song that I enjoyed very much. Afterwards, I looked around to see if I could buy it on iTunes. When I tried to purchase the album I got an error, so I waited until the streaming audio was released. The MP3 below is taken from that stream so you can listen to it as often as you like.
You can listen to the whole show here.
Or purchase her album on Amazon’s MP3 Service
(which is what I ended up doing).

This is a photo of a painting of a photo. A close up of a Chuck Close. It looks pretty great.

A good trick I figured out for taking long exposure pictures in the snow is to take a glove, put it on the snow and rest the camera on it. This protects the camera from direct contact with the snow and also gives a handy solid base to get a steady shot.
