I think it could probably work in a floor, although the epoxy would definitely get pretty worn / scratched over time. On our countertop it has been wearing very well (only some minor light scratches that don't look bad at all). The epoxy is very durable, but it is softer than stone.
This would look totally awesome in a floor though. :)
