Mac OS X 10.3: Using an HP Photosmart Printer

Install driver version 2.3.6 or later to use an HP Photosmart printer with Mac OS X Panther.

HP Photosmart printer driver version 2.3.5 does not work with Mac OS X 10.3. When you try to print, the job may stop, or the application you’re printing from may unexpectedly quit. To fix this, install version 2.3.6 or later. You can download a later version from the HP website (http://www.hp.com/).

Tip: Follow these steps to see which driver version is installed:

Click the Finder icon in the Dock.
From the Go menu, choose Utilities.
Double-click Printer Setup Utility.
Select the Photosmart printer in the Printer List.
From the Printers menu, choose Show Info.

Was running into a problem using our HP Photosmart 245 photo printer under OS X 10.3. Finally checked Apple’s support area and found this nice solution (I had installed from the supplied disk instead of downloading the [87MB!!!] driver from HP’s site.) Photo printing is A-OK now! Sweet.
