Michael came over and made baked pancakes that were spectacular Jan 26 2008

So tasty, cooked in a bed of golden melted butter in a well-seasoned iron skillet. Each one is baked for 13 minutes, and rises up over the edges of the pan. We made savory and sweet. Sweet didn’t have any additions to the pancake batter. The savory had pancetta and manchego cheese added. So good.

Graphic Designer Jokes

After going through some of the many viola jokes with my good friend Dmitri (who plays both the violin and occasionally, when he is about to die of starvation, a viola as well), he asked if there were any web designer or graphic designer jokes. I guess the only one actually is this page returned by Google:

‘Did you mean: “graphic designer jobs”‘

“graphic designer jokes” – Google Search

My friend Dmitri taught me this phrase:

акула капитализма

It means shark of capitalism. LISTEN and LEARN 🙂

Online social networking site Facebook.com is hosting a contest in partnership with The Case Foundation — the Causes Giving Challenge — that will award $50,000 to the non-profit organization that attracts the most individual donors over a 50-day period ending February 1, 2008. Out of over 50,000 individual registered Causes, one has been recently getting a lot of attention — the Children’s Eternal Rainforest. Only days after joining the contest, this group has rapidly risen to become the only environmental organization represented in the top 50 contest leaders.

Chart showing Unique Facebook Causes Donors by Day Jan 5 2008

There is a $50,000 prize for the group that can get the most unique donations over the next 26 days using the Facebook Causes application. We recently got the Children’s Eternal Rainforest set up as a Facebook cause, and managed to raise $490 in a 24 hour time period to help preserve more rainforest.

Click here for the donation page if you’re interested in supporting the Children’s Eternal Rainforest in its goal to win the additional $50,000 prize.

This chart reflects how many individual donations were needed for each day of the week to win the daily $1,000 prize for the most individual donors. It looks like, in general, weekends are good days to focus on. The fewest number of donors that has won so far was 32. The highest was 151.

Hopefully we’ll be able to win at least one of the daily $1,000 prizes in the next 26 days.
