coffee2code.com – Plugin: Get Custom Field Values

coffee2code.com – Plugin: Get Custom Field Values

This handy plugin is powering the sidebar fitness stats. I’ve been adding a weight_lb custom field to weigh-in posts. This plugin allows me to easily retrieve the latest values (currently pulling the data from the last two weigh-ins to display last weight and difference with the previous weight.

Once I get the new plugin written (the Collabofit WordPress Fitness plugin, coming soon to a blog near you…) it will be released both here and on the Collabofit site. In the meantime, you can keep up with me as I see if I’m green or red. 🙂

coffee2code.com – Plugin: Get Custom Field Values

Easily retrieve and control the display of any custom field values/meta data for posts, inside or outside “the loop”. The power of custom fields gives this plugin the potential to be dozens of plugins all rolled into one.

Thursday workout

Thursday workout

Ran 1.5 miles on the treadmill, 1.5 average incline. Did more 10lb arm work with the dumbells. About 20 crunches on the machine. They seem to be getting a little easier, which feels like a good thing. We only had about 45 minutes total anyways, since we needed to get back home in time to go out to Miso with Brooke. Miso was great as always, although they were definitely really busy, especially for a Thursday.

Weigh-in: 215.0 lb Yay! 🙂

Spaced Out cover

Have been listening to some of the tracks, and they are groovy, brassy, fun for sure.

Boing Boing: Thursday is the 100th birthday of Enoch Light

The late Enoch Light was a bandleader famous for using “ping pong stereo” effects: bouncing sound from the left and right channels. The effect was put to good use on his two most popular albums, Persuasive Percussion and Provocative Percussion, both issued in the 1950s.

The cover art of his 60s LPs are phantasmagorically trippy blends of exotica, erotica, and psychedelia. The music on many of his albums of the era, however, sound like a slightly (very slightly) more hip version of Lawrence Welk. Lucky for me, I love Lawrence Welk’s sound.

Download albums here complete with sweet analog record player scratch sounds and all. 🙂

SMW album cover

I have a special softness in my heart for recordings and covers of Super Mario Brothers music. Found this one via Boing Boing and going to give it a listen. 🙂

The complete soundtrack to Super Mario World, covered by one man using dozens of instruments. Roughly in game order, faithful to the originals, with some bizarre artistic license thrown around. A private hobby made public. Dedicated to Koji Kondo. –XOC

Looking really good. I need to assemble a list of Web 2.0 type service sites like this one – seems like a new one is popping on Delicious Popular every day. Fun fun times to be a web designer.
