Wednesday workout Aug 25 2005

Shorter workout today, ~45 minutes. 6 miles on the bicycle, arm curls, crunches, some running and walking.

Listened to an interesting podcast from the BlogHer 2005 sessions entitled How to get Naked, talking about personal identity blogs.

This handy plugin is powering the sidebar fitness stats. I’ve been adding a weight_lb custom field to weigh-in posts. This plugin allows me to easily retrieve the latest values (currently pulling the data from the last two weigh-ins to display last weight and difference with the previous weight.

Once I get the new plugin written (the Collabofit WordPress Fitness plugin, coming soon to a blog near you…) it will be released both here and on the Collabofit site. In the meantime, you can keep up with me as I see if I’m green or red. πŸ™‚ – Plugin: Get Custom Field Values

Thursday workout Aug 18 2005

Ran 1.5 miles on the treadmill, 1.5 average incline. Did more 10lb arm work with the dumbells. About 20 crunches on the machine. They seem to be getting a little easier, which feels like a good thing. We only had about 45 minutes total anyways, since we needed to get back home in time to go out to Miso with Brooke. Miso was great as always, although they were definitely really busy, especially for a Thursday.

Tuesday workout Aug 16 2005

Worked out after work again today, ~40 minutes. Did a bunch of laps, running / jogging / walking – est. ~1.5 miles total. Approximately 40 crunches on the crunch machine. Some back and forth with the weight ball (12lb). Did good amount of arms with the 10lb barbells.

Another good workout… Aug 15 2005

Another good workout. Did a 2.25 mile run / jog in 30 minutes, a bunch of arm reps with the 10lb dumbells and some crunches on the crunchy-crunch machine.

Weigh-in Aug 13 2005

Went to the gym tonight after work with Kristin. Good workout, 2.1 miles on the treadmill, lots of arm excercises with the 8lb weights and some crunches. Also there were some kids doing some really good breakdancing in the gym. It was quite fun to watch.

Current weight: 218lb

WordPress BMI (Body Mass Index) tracker plugin Aug 10 2005

Thinking about writing a Fitness Tracker plugin for WordPress, featuring BMI (Body Mass Index) data, Last Weigh-in, Last Workout Date, and other motivational information to help you keep getting fit in mind.

This plugin would allow you to easily track your current BMI based on periodic weigh-ins and recording the results in a weigh-in post. Would use a custom field to add weight, then options for using pounds or kilograms or stones or grams or whatever, how to display, history, etc…

Also could be a hosted service all setup for people to collaboratively lose weight and get more fit. Goodness knows that we need all the help we can get, eh? Umm, here we come… πŸ™‚
